The music private lesson program at Hopkins typically consists of weekly private lessons with one of our vetted instructors. Lessons are held during the school day, on campus, in one of our Wenger sound-isolation practice rooms in Thompson Hall. We recommend that families interested in private lessons reach out directly to one of our music instructors whose information can be found on the previous webpage or by clicking on the Lesson Interest Form button below.

When contacting the instructor, you can inquire about their teaching philosophy, cost of lessons, availability, scheduling, and absence policy. Communication about lesson payment should be between families and music instructors, directly. Private lessons are extracurricular, therefore Hopkins is not involved in billing with this program nor can the school provide financial aid for lessons at this time. Lessons do not count for course credit and cannot be used toward the graduation requirements, as stated in the course guide.

While we recommend that the lesson commitment is by semester, issues may arise that can affect a child’s ability to continue with lessons. Please contact the lesson instructor promptly if you feel you need to suspend lessons.

In the event that you need assistance with any aspect of the music lesson program, please contact the lesson coordinator, Mr. Bobby Smith, at rsmith@hopkins.edu
